Death Valley, California - The background photo is of the three of us on the sand dunes northeast of Stove Pipe Wells Village.

Death Valley National Park is located in southern California on the Nevada border.
If you plan to venture to this desert wonderland we recommend you plan to spend at least 3 days.
We also recommend highly that you get written material on the park to predetermine what you
think you might want to do.  If you rent a vehicle we recommend a 4-wheel drive,
high-clearance vehicle.  If you do not have a vehicle that will ride well on poorly graded
dirt roads you will severely limit your adventure.  The sites in Death Valley are extremely
spread out and this is one of the reasons that you need at least 3 days.  If you love the
desert and mountains you will likely drive away from the park planning your return
visit to this surreal wonderland.  We also recommend you get a history book on the valley.
The one which is reportedly the premier book on the history of Death Valley is entitled,
"Death Valley & The Armagosa A Land of Illusion by Richard E. Lingenfelter.  This book
will open up a new experience for you at the park.
We enjoyed it immensely!

Drinking plenty of water in this arid environment is very important.  You don't just take the water with you, you must drink it too.
