2008 Events

IRCHA 2008 - Muncie, Indiana

Paul spotting for his friend Aeryk Hurley of Roosevelt, Utah flying his Century Freestyle.

Enjoying the Noontime Demos on Friday.

PG flying by with his 10S Miniature Aircraft Razor 600E.

It was good to see our friends from all around the country as we all converged on Muncie, Indiana once again.

In Mid July we attended SMRCHA.  Southern Maine Radio Controlled Helicopter Association's event held in North Hollis Maine.  We were the lone campers.  Although it was a small event, everyone had a good time.  The local television station even came out and filmed Paul and Bob Libby flying.

Burt Dummond, club president, asked

Paul to fly his T-Rex 500, shown on the right in his trailer.

On June 15th we attended the 2nd Annual Rod Black Fun Fly at our home field in Guildhall, Vermont. Paul did a noontime demonstration with this 10S and 12S Razors.  The weather was gloomy and rainy.  Sorry no photos.

We had a great time at the Huntsville event.  Fantastic pilots from all over the country were there.  I had a great time.  The T-Rex team of Jason Krause, Bert Kammerer, and Alan Szabo put on a great show with their new T-Rex 700.

Nick Maxwell flying his Stratus in the ditch at Birmingham.  Fellow Miniature Aircraft team member Ben Parrott spotting for Nick.

Paul spotting for another Miniature Aircraft team member, Kyle Stacy at Birmingham.

Unfortunately, at the Port Charlotte Event in February 2008 PG's tailslide ended in disaster.

In front of Bert Kammerer, Matt Botos, Mike Fortin, Elvis Leslie, Pete Campbell, and Jared Granzow, Paul decided to see how low a tailslide could go.  When the experiment failed, the bullpen was speechless, even Mike Fortin.

Elvis Leslie and Paul talking about radio techniques at Port Charlotte.

Clint's Birthday Bash 2007

It was a great time, as pilots from the region joined at Clintstone's house to celebrate his birthday.  It was great to see all the Miniature Aircraft gang there and other top 3D pilots flying Raptors, TRex 450 and 600s, and Avants.

2006 Helicopter Event:
IRCHA SOUTHWEST IN LEHI, UTAH-SEPTEMBER 2006

We had a great weekend at the 2nd Annual IRCHA Southwest event held in Lehi, Utah.  Rain shut down flying most of Friday, but Saturday and Sunday there was lots of flying.  Several folks took to the night sky and gathered around a campfire.  I entered my first "competition" a Pad-Hop at the event.  We also met lots of nice flyers from around the region including Jake Botia and his dad from the Vegas area.  We also ran into John Poulsen whom we had met at the HeliProz flying field in 2005 in Billings, Montana.  We met the Aeryk Hurley and his family from Roosevelt, Utah--another father/son flying team.

THE BIG EVENT: IRCHA HELI JAMBOREE-MUNCIE, INDIANA

In August 2006 we attended our second IRCHA Jamboree.  It was great being with the top flyers around the world.  We had met many of the "best" the previous year such as Alan Szabo Jr. this year we were able to meet Colin Bell, Stephen Girard, Nir Mieri and Nigel Brown.  We spent some time with Kyle and Ray Stacy.  They are such a great help and we appreciate them very much.  At the 2005 event I had just been off training gear one week.  This year I was flying 3D.

The highlight of the event was spending time with Curtis "The Iceman" Youngblood.  I was able to spot for Curtis during his night fly!

If you have never been to IRCHA in Munice-make it some how!  All the pilots are very nice and helpful.  The event will be August 9-12, 2007 at the AMA headquarters in Muncie, Indiana.  You will see hours and hours and hours and hours of the best pilots in the world flying during the four-day event.  The noon time demos and the Saturday night fly are the highlights.

Other Events:

Our "home" field is located in Guildhall, Vermont.  Every summer our club has a fun fly.  Flyers from Vermont and New Hampshire gather together for flying and food.  Our helicopter friends John and Mike both fly IMAC airplanes too.

In September 2005 we went to a fun fly in Zilah, Washington.  We saw some of the flying lawn mowers (you can too by clicking on the lawn mower pic) and witches there.  We also had the pleasure of meeting and see Kyle Woshens of Port Orchard, Washington flying his 35% IMAC planes.  If you ever get a chance to see him fly you will be impressed. (Click on Kyle's plane to view a quick clip of him doing a rolling harrier.) When Kyle flies everyone sets down their transmitters and watches.  Kyle and his family were very friendly.

They also had great hamburgers!
